Alberto Piatti has been working at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) since 2003. He obtained a diploma in mathematics with distinction at ETH Zurich in 2001, and a teaching diploma in mathematics at cantonal secondary schools in 2002. Between 2003 and 2009, he was a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Innovative Technologies and a contract lecturer at the University of Lugano (USI), where he obtained his PhD in 2006 with a thesis at the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence Studies. During the same period, he carried out research activities in the field of mathematics didactics and teaching at the former High school of education in Locarno. In 2010, when this University of Teacher Education was transferred to SUPSI as the Department of Education and Learning, he was appointed member of its management board and head of basic education and then Director in 2017.
Alberto Piatti is a member of the chamber of Universities of Teacher Education of swissuniversities, as well as a delegate to four of its bodies.
