Martine Rahier, professor of entomology and animal ecology, was rector of the University of Neuchâtel from 2008 to 2016. In addition to her studies at the Free University of Brussels and at the Universities of Cornell and Berkeley, her doctorate in natural sciences at the University of Basel and her habilitation in ecology at the University of Zurich are the main milestones of her academic career.
Martine Rahier has been a member and chair of numerous university and inter-university committees at national and international level. In addition, she was a member and then president of the Rectors’ Conference of the Swiss Higher Education Institutions. She is a member of the German Accreditation Council, vice-president of the European University Association (EUA), member of the advisory board of ANVUR and was a member of the board of AQ Austria from 2017 to 2021. In 2021, she became vice-president of the jury of the ExcellencES programme (ANR, Agence nationale de la recherche, France). She is also involved in institutions such as the WWF and the Swiss Study Foundation.
